The Boston Tower
Erosion
The Boston Tower was a project to bring the height connection across the river. The lenses of the form came from sustainable elements, and the idea of what building would look like after years of erosion from natural elements such as carving from the rain and rounding of the edges from wind. The facades of the building show the erosion of the structure, most of which are sustainable features of the building like water and solar collection.
The entrance to tower had several lenses to its design. Bringing human scale to the tower, reflective glazing to reflect the involvement of the community, a public sense of arrival space to visit the businesses located on the bottom floors. The program of the building were layered by: Businesses on the first four floors and residential the rest of the tower and a performance space on the top floor.
With the erosion theme, the core of the building was exposed, showing the heart of the buildings goals. Three community levels for the residents including: Gym, Playgrounds, shared spaces and more. Parts of the shell of the structure have a semi-reflective glazing to reflect the movement of the city and natural elements.
